    Science Week.

    March 15th, 2017 by

During our science week we have been trying out different experiments. First we learned about floating and sinking.

On Tuesday we discovered which materials were magnetic and which were not.

Today we have boiled an egg some of us wrapped it in straw, some in bubble wrap and some in cotton wool.

Then we put it in a bag and dropped it from a height. We wanted to find out which material protected the egg the most.

8/10 that was wrapped in straw did not break. 1/10 wrapped in bubble wrap did not break and 1/10 that was wrapped in cotton wool did not break.

We discovered the straw was the most protective material.

We cannot wait to find out what we are doing Thursday and Friday !

The children had lots of fun being scientists for part of the day.

    Well done everyone !

    People Who Help Us.

    March 5th, 2017 by

A fireman named Carl came into our class and talked to us about what he does to help people everyday.

Carl told us about the different type of emergencies firemen attend. It is not just fires, they also attend road traffic accidents, rescue animals that are trapped and help children that sometimes get things stuck on their head !

Carl asked us if we knew the number to ring in an emergency “999” we all shouted.

Carl also said we could ring 112.

Some of the children then opted to try on the uniform “these are very heavy” said one little boy.

Thank you Carl for coming to visit us. We all had a fantastic time !

    Road Safety.

    December 13th, 2016 by

Today we have been learning all about road safety. The road safety officer from Walsall Council came to our school and took us on a walk. Whilst on the walk we learned how to cross the road using a pedestrian crossing. ‘Car door and a little bit more’ we chanted as  we walked on a narrow path near to parked cars. This was a way of remembering not to walk near a car door Incase someone opened it and knocked us over. Thank you to all our mommies and daddies who helped us. We hope today will help our children keep safe when crossing the busy roads around our school. Well done everyone for impeccable behaviour when out and about Leamore today ! Even though it rained for most of our walks.

Today we have been raising money for children in need. We came dressed to school in spotty clothes. We have also been asking our family and friends to sponsor us to wear our spotty clothes for the day. Let’s hope we raise lots of money for children less fortunate than ourselves.

We also played treasure hunt. The adults hid several spotty items around the classroom when we had all found one of the hidden items we each got a prize. This was fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.
